You need not travel to Philadelphia on January 1st to witness the most spectacular portion of the world-renowned Philadelphia Mummers Parade - the colorfully costumed, banjo-strumming String bands.
Since 1946, the Greater Kensington String Band has been a totally volunteer organization that participates in the world famous Mummers Parade on New Year's Day in Philadelphia, PA.
Our clubhouse is available for rental for your special event, such as showers, birthday parties, retirements, and wedding receptions, to name a few.
Greater Kensington brings the color, excitement, and musical celebration of the Mummers Parade to you any time of the year. With two first prize finishes under its belt, we have a performance for every occasion. We’ve played wedding receptions, private dinner parties, and national conventions. If there is an event that needs sparkle and sizzle, we can help you make it happen.
Our clubhouse is conveniently located in the “Great Northeast” section of Philadelphia on Cottman Avenue, just a few minutes from I-95. We can accommodate 120 or so in the upper banquet hall and up to 70 in the lower hall. Catering and DJ services are available.

With multiple first prizes under its belt, “Greater K” has a performance for every occasion, big or small. We’ve enlivened such grand events as the 100th anniversary of the Brooklyn Bridge, the opening of the Olympic Training Center in Colorado, the Chinese New Year Parade in Hong Kong, the annual Christmas Parade in Knoxville, Tennessee and the Kitchener-Waterloo Oktoberfest celebration in Ontario, Canada.
